Mars Hill New Music Festival

The Mars Hill New Music Festival is a biennial festival of contemporary music held on the campus of Mars Hill University in North Carolina. The festival features performances, recitals, master classes, concerts, lectures, and multidisciplinary collaborations focused on music of the late 20th and 21st centuries. The Mars Hill New Music Festival is a celebration of multiple creative pathways in classical music, jazz, improvisational music, avant-garde explorations, and musical hybridization.

The Mars Hill New Music Festival highlights the performance/compositional talents of students and faculty of Mars Hill University but also presents the imaginative and ingenious efforts of featured guest artists from around the nation.

The 2014 Mars Hill New Music Festival will took place on November 5-7, 2014. Guest artists were composer Stephen Dankner and pianist Holly Roadfeldt.

 

The 2013 Mars Hill New Music Festival was held April 19-20, 2013. Guest artist was Bryan Hooten.

 

The 2012 Mars Hill New Music Festival was held March 30-31, 2012. Guest artists were Duo Fujin and composers Sarah Zipperer Gaskins and Neil Anderson-Himmelspach.
